Choose Agewise Recruitment
where experience gets to work
Agewise Recruitment finds experienced people for charities and local businesses, in permanent and contract, full-time and part-time roles, all over London. Our recruitment business was founded on a value-based ethos, to promote employment fairness in the workplace, particularly as regards age.
Our efforts to promote the skills of mature and experienced staff have led to the development of techniques that identify transferable skills that are applicable to all age groups, and enrich the candidate information we present to employers.
The focus on the excellence and experience of our candidates is reflected in the bespoke service we provide to our clients.
Age Diversity
Agewise was founded with a remit to campaign for the fair treatment of older people looking for work. As an anti-ageist organisation, we believe a mixed-age work environment functions best and that everyone has something to contribute, whatever their age. Originally most of our candidates were in their 40s and 50s, today we welcome all ages.
Mission
Our mission is to counteract ageism in the workplace while finding high calibre candidates for every vacancy; to give an unparalleled service to the employers who contact us looking for excellent and experienced staff, and to give respect to those who come to us in search of work.
History
Agewise Recruitment has been putting experience to work since 2003. We began with the certain knowledge that there was an untapped pool of experience and a growing skills gap. Our aim was to build the bridge between the two, the companies searching for reliable and committed employees and the people who can provide that indispensable dedication and knowledge.
The founders, Lena Joffe and Davina Lloyd, have a long working history of recognising an emerging need and finding a solution. They met as adjacent ‘lumps’ in antenatal class in the eighties and saw the contemporary lack of information facing new mothers. They collaborated on the immediately best-selling magazine Practical Parenting which launched under Davina’s editorship when the Mother & Baby press was in its infancy.
At the millennium, they met again and recognised the hurdles facing people looking for jobs as they approached 50. Their solution this time was not a magazine but a campaigning recruitment consultancy that would advise employers on establishing a mixed-age workplace, and help candidates showcase their skills.
Training
The effectiveness of the Agewise transferable skills methodology was recognised with a DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) contract to help out-of-work professionals and executives make successful applications to get back to work. Over 1000 people of all ages attended weekly all-day workshops at the height of the recession to learn / acquire the tools needed to make their applications count.
This expertise is available now in programmes for employers looking to support staff facing redundancy and for candidates seeking expert help with writing CVs and preparing for interview. Costs are supplied on an individual basis. Please telephone 020 8747 0410 to discuss.
