Experience gets to work
Agewise Recruitment is a new consultancy, but one born from experience.
We began with the certain knowledge that there is a growing skills gap and the
recognition that there is also an untapped pool of experience. Our aim was
to be the bridge between the two: the companies searching for reliable and
committed staff and the people with the dedication and knowledge
to become indispensable employees.
During three years specialising in the recruitment of mature staff, we have
extended our services to meet the needs of our clients. Besides permanent
positions, where our own experience began, we now offer temporary placements,
part-time options and short-term contracts, together with a wide range of
training and consultancy services

respect to those who come to us for work. That is our twin mission.
Management
The two directors of Agewise have a long working history of recognising a need
and providing a solution. Davina Lloyd and Lena Joffe met as adjacent 'bumps'
in antenatal class in the eighties, and recognising the lack of contemporary
information, launched the immediately best-selling magazine Practical Parenting
.
More recently, they identified a new predicament, the forthcoming gulf between
the skills that companies depend on and the difficulty faced in recruiting
suitably qualified and readily available staff. The barriers of ageism
encountered by job seekers over forty, and the employment implications of
imminent age diversity legislation, are contributing factors. Joffe Lloyd set
out to turn their talents to addressing these issues. Their business
partnership running a recruitment consultancy expanded from providing senior
personnel on a permanent basis to offering training to job seekers and
outplacement advice, and encompasses board-level briefings on equality
legislation and age diversity.
Using their own experience in management, recruitment and a passion for
perfection, they have set up Agewise Recruitment to provide a premium service
to enlightened employers who would like to balance their firm's age-profile and
recruit the very best person for each vacancy.
